My name is Holly Smith. I make my home in beautiful Colorado, as the wife of Chris and mother of four delightful children. My Chris and I love to be together and are the best of friends! Although it is rare that we have alone time, we search for it like treasure. We are each others’ prayer warriors and biggest cheerleaders.
I am a stay-at-home mom, who very much loves her job as a mom. On the side, I design web pages and marketing pieces. It is a great way to pour out creativity! God has gifted me with a love of all things creative–from painting and wall-papering to scrapbooking and design-work. My mom is an artist and graphic designer, so I grew up with it.
I began graphic design, when I was 16 years old, using an old version of Paint. In high school, I learned much under my high school journalism teacher, Mrs. Lewis. There I learned to create and design ads (my first buttons!) and layout the newspaper, of which I was co-editor.
In college, I continued on the journalism path, but skipped on over to graduate with a BBA in management, which gives me a full spectrum of understanding in the running of a business. Little did I know I would be purchasing an LLC sole proprietorship in the state of Colorado for my own business! I began blogging in 2007, since I love to write. And one day I asked my friend Sophie how to do a blog button that LINKED! By the end of 2008, I was beginning to design my own blog and in 2009, I began to work as a designer–though much of it was for free.
Educationally, I have had training in web development, web design, Wordpress and Blogger with several experts in the field over the past year and a half–over the phone, via skype, in person and through emails. Many of these have given me tips and training, because someone took time to help them at one point. They have guided me in pricing and all manner of important details for this site. Also, I have extensive training in learning by trial and error and through tutorials in concepts with which I now have a full understanding. And I’m still learning…it’s a wide-open field, so the learning never stops.
I co-founded a devotional ministry site called A Martha Heart which began development from my recipe blog called What Would Martha Cook? (Martha from the Bible, not the other one.) I love to share, connect and create relationships–building lifelong friendships, of which I have many that are true treasures.
In every season of our lives, God is faithful.
